Prospector Homes in Park City, Utah

Homes for Sale in Prospector

The Prospector area is located within the City limits, close to Main Street. Prospector homes for sale can be more affordable than those in other in-town neighborhoods. A buyer looking for a traditional, full-time home with fenced yards, yet conveniently close to downtown Park City's lifestyle amenities, should consider Prospector. The western end of Prospector features office space, retail stores, and excellent restaurants, and is home to the famous "Rail Trail." This trail winds through the neighborhood, offering enjoyment for bikers, runners, walkers, and serves as a route to access Main Street. The newer community, called Park City Heights, is located at the east end of Prospector. The homes have a modern mountain vibe, and residents will enjoy an abundance of trails, a neighborhood park, and a clubhouse that includes a community pool. Homes in Prospector are seldom for sale and sell very quickly. If you're interested in Prospector homes, please contact us, and we'll do the work behind the scenes to find you a home.

Prospector Park City Homes

Weekly rentals are allowed in condominium and townhome projects, but only a small portion of single-family homes in Prospector allow short-term vacation rentals. The oldest section of Prospector real estate contains Victorian-style homes where homeowners' renovation and remodeling give the area new vitality. Chatam Hills rests on the hillside above Prospector, filled with larger homes and spacious townhomes, some with great views. The Prospector neighborhood is within walking distance of McPolin Elementary and Park City High School. Also located in Prospector is the Silver Mountain Sports Club, a popular fitness center that offers great classes, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, and an outdoor pool. Just past Prospector on Kearns Boulevard are the Park City Medical Hospital, an Ice Skating Rink, the National Abilities Center, and a movie film studio.

Prospector Fun History ♦ Past & Present

Prospector is one of the older and most established neighborhoods in Park City real estate, and it's home to several top-rated schools. The neighborhood includes Park City High School, Treasure Mountain Middle School, and McPolin Elementary. Academically, Park City High consistently ranks among the top schools in Utah, and in 2011, it was recognized as one of the top 200 high schools in the U.S. by Newsweek magazine.

The original Park City High School was constructed in February 1928 for $200,000 (approximately $3 million in 2020). That original campus was vacated in 1981 when the new high school opened on Kearns Boulevard. The historic building has since been beautifully restored and now serves as the Park City Library and the Jim Santy Auditorium—both key community landmarks near many Prospector homes.

The current Park City High School underwent a major renovation in 2008. Located on a 35-acre site, the three-level campus has received multiple design awards, including the 2010 Outstanding Project Award for Green School Building Design by Leading By Design. Today, the school serves grades 10–12 and remains a major draw for homebuyers seeking top-tier schools within walking distance of Prospector real estate.
