Coming Home to Park City's History ♦ Past & Present

^{A Look Back at Jeremy Ranch Real Estate}
In 1890 a prominent Salt Lake businessman, Thomas Jeremy, purchased 20,000 acres of land near Parley's Summit and Synderville Basin for a self-sufficient sheep ranch. The Jeremy family owned and operated the ranch for 4 generations before selling 12,500 acres to Dr. Gerald Bagley in 1977. Dr. Bagley was an avid golf enthusiast and always dreamed of building his own world-class championship golf course. In June 1982 the 22,000 square foot glazed sentinel Jeremy Ranch Clubhouse was designed by a prominent Utah architectural firm. Once complete, the golfers' clubhouse was one of the most imposing features of the entire Jeremy Ranch area. Its most striking feature was the exterior glass walls which exposed the massive wooden structural beams and pillars. The glass walls facilitated a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape from almost every room in the building. Groundbreaking on the championship course began in May 1979, at this time an additional 6 million dollars was poured into the 12,500-acre project, and approval was granted for the Jeremy Ranch Subdivision. The Jeremy Ranch Golf & Country Club remains the only Arnold Palmer-designed golf course in Utah.
